Refresher on City snow policies

Looks like another round of snow is on the way! Here’s a refresher on the City’s snow ordinances:
69.13 SNOW REMOVAL.
It is unlawful to park any vehicle on any street between the hours of 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. commencing November 1 of each year and terminating March 31 of the following year during periods of snowfall or within 24 hours after the termination of a snowfall.
135.12 DUMPING OF SNOW.
It is unlawful for any person to throw, push, or place or cause to be thrown, pushed or placed, any ice or snow from private property, sidewalks, or driveways onto the traveled way of a street or alley so as to obstruct gutters, or impede the passage of vehicles upon the street or alley or to create a hazardous condition therein; except where, in the cleaning of large commercial drives in the business district it is absolutely necessary to move the snow onto the street or alley temporarily, such accumulation shall be removed promptly by the property owner or agent. Arrangements for the prompt removal of such accumulations shall be made prior to moving the snow.
136.03 REMOVAL OF SNOW, ICE, AND ACCUMULATIONS.
It is the responsibility of the abutting property owners to remove snow, ice, and accumulations promptly from sidewalks. If a property owner does not remove snow, ice, or accumulations within twenty-four (24) hours, the City may do so and assess the costs against the property owner for collection in the same manner as a property tax.

Update for Utility Billing Customers

City utility customers experienced a recent temporary change in the billing cycle which was a direct result of conversion issues involving program design by the company the City uses for utility billing.

Consequently, utility bills were sent in the mail on Friday, January 24, 2025, and customers have until February 13, 2025, to pay their most recent bill. Utility customer’s next utility bills, however, are planned to be sent on time on Monday, February 10, 2025.

City staff thank you for your patience as we continue to work with the utility billing software company with the conversion to a cloud-based program.

Update for Utility Billing Customers

Utility Billing Customers:
Currently, utility bills are tentatively planned to be distributed this Friday, January 24, 2025. These utility bills will include several additional days from the previous utility bills.

After this utility billing cycle, the next utility bills however, will include less days as the utility bills are planned to be distributed on February 10, 2025, and will be due by February 28, 2025, in accordance with the City’s policy.

Thank you all for your continued support and cooperation as the city continues transitioning the utility billing to the new cloud- based system. Please contact City staff with any questions at 515-994-2649.
